I noticed that the other day we lost Glen Holm (Obituaries, Nov. 17-19). I'd like to pass on a little-known kindness that Glen and his brother Bob extended to myself and others back when we were building the Bel Passi Baseball complex.
I believe it was in 1974 when a handful of us were spending every spare moment at the site digging in the dirt in an attempt to fulfill our dream of a four-diamond complex for all the youngsters to enjoy. We spent a full year on this effort and at times it got very depressing, for it was only a handful of us working at it. So it seemed that on bad days we would look up and there would be somebody from Shakey's with pizza for us all, compliments of the Holms brothers!
It was done with no fanfare, no expectations, just from the goodness of their hearts. The story behind the development of Bel Passi is truly a labor of love by a few people and thankfully the program continues.
