Info: The MJC Civic Engagement Project Fall Film & Lecture Series will offer a free showing of "Miss Representation," followed by a discussion. The film highlights how the image of women in the media continues to undermine their potential in society, sending the same underlying message: Women are valued for how they look, not what they do. Campus parking is $1, paid at ticket dispensers in student parking lots.

MUNICIPAL ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING

Where: Nick W. Blom Salida Regional Library, Community Room, 4835 Sisk Road

Info: The Salida Municipal Advisory Council meeting will feature speaker Marjorie Blom, who will talk on "LAFCo 101." LAFCo is the Local Agency Formation Commission, which approves or denies annexations in Stanislaus County. Blom is a LAFCo director. Residents are invited to attend, ask questions and share concerns, including their thoughts on the possible Salida annexation by Modesto.

Info: The public is invited to attend the Merced Union High School District Superintendent's Award Night. Three students from Atwater, Buhach Colony, Golden Valley, Livingston, Merced High School and East Campus Educational Center sites will be honored for their achievements in academics, arts, athletics, community service and character.
