The Bee recently printed an article regarding a woman in Florida who was denied custody of her child because she was a habitual liar. The judge believed she wasn't a proper role model and that her behavior was harmful to the child.
She should have had her case heard in California, where custody is granted regardless of the parent's fitness. She could be a crackhead, heroin addict, murderer or anything else and probably would have been given custody, because the judges in this state believe the child should have a "nurturing exposure" with a parent.
Thank God some judges do have common sense.
