MODESTO -- The Sylvan Union School District in north Modesto will discuss possible school boundary shifts for 2013-14 at two upcoming town meetings.
Draft recommendations being put forward would directly affect middle school students living in the C.F. Brown Elementary attendance area and elementary students who attend Sherwood Elementary and live west of McHenry Avenue.
Meetings will include the same information:
Monday, 7 to 8 p.m., in the Sherwood Elementary School multipurpose room, 819 E. Rumble Road
Tuesday, 7 to 8 p.m., in the C.F. Brown Elementary School multipurpose room, 2025 Vera Cruz Drive.
"The first meeting will be held in the heart of one of the areas. The second one will be at the other area affected," said Matthew Shipley, chairman of the Boundary Study Committee.
The committee began work in May, examining current attendance and capacity data with an eye on evening enrollment among Sylvan schools.
The committee's recommendations would shift boundaries for the next school year. Members will present the plan and gather feedback from the public at both meetings. A final decision is expected by February.
