To those Proposition 30 supporters believing there would be new and additional monies funneled into school classrooms, take note of The Bee's Nov. 18 admonition to the state's Democrat legislators to not waste the money.

State Senate leader Darrell Steinberg says he plans to take a balanced approach of restoring cuts, reducing debt and saving for a rainy day. The Assembly leader sees need for funding mental health, college scholarships, dental care, etc. In addition, Proposition 30 money will also go to public safety and all that it entails. You can expect that funding from traditional sources will be reduced, resulting in no additional funds heading into classrooms.

So why did so many unions and associations kick in nearly $35 million for Jerry Brown's bait-and-switch ploy, and what happens when Proposition 30 phases out?
