-- The Stanislaus County district attorney's office has offered a plea deal to a man accused of raping a woman he picked up in December.

The defendant, Devon Bradford, 34, wanted more time to consider the offer. Details of the proposed plea deal were not discussed during a brief pretrial hearing Monday afternoon in Stanislaus County Superior Court.

Judge Marie Silveira scheduled Bradford, who remains free on bail, to return to court Nov. 29 to determine whether he will accept the prosecution's offer.

Bradford has been charged with rape and false imprisonment. The person told police that Bradford, whom she didn't know, offered her a ride to a friend's house but instead took her to his apartment. She said she felt drugged when she woke up the next morning, which is when authorities say the rape occurred.

Bradford's defense attorney has argued that the sex was consensual.
