-- A Turlock man was arrested Sunday in Ceres on suspicion of domestic violence, child endangerment and other charges, Ceres police reported Monday.

Ivan Lara, 21, left, removed a window screen to enter his ex-girlfriend's home after ringing the doorbell repeatedly and getting no response, said Ceres Police Department spokeswoman Carissa Higginbotham.

Lara began struggling with the victim while she held their 2-year-old daughter. During the struggle, he threw the victim's phone into the toilet and attempted to steal an iPad from the home, then threw the iPad on the ground as he left the residence, Higginbotham said.

Officers arrived to find Lara attempting to flee in a vehicle; they said they suspected he was under the influence of drugs and-or alcohol. Lara was arrested and booked at the Stanislaus County Jail on suspicion of burglary, domestic violence, child endangerment, attempted kidnapping, violation of a protective order, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, attempting to prevent-dissuade a witness or victim, resisting arrest, and driving with a suspended license. He had two warrants for criminal threats.

The ex-girlfriend and the 2-year-old did not require medical attention, Higginbotham said.
