-- Stanislaus County Sheriff's detectives are investigating a shooting early this morning at a motel outside of Ceres. Investigators said they're having trouble with uncooperative witnesses.

According to Sgt. Anthony Bejaran, someone called 911 at 3 a.m. to report a person shot at the Oak Motel in the 1900 block of Crows Landing Road. The location is between south Modesto and Ceres.

"When deputies arrived, they found an adult male had been shot," Bejaran said. The man was taken to an area hospital; Bejaran did not have information on his condition.

Detectives have been called out to handle the investigation, Bejaran said. They have the entire area in front of the hotel cordoned off; the door to room No. 4 is standing open with a Ford Thunderbird parked outside,

Deputies also have cordoned off an area across Glenn Avenue, though the tire dealership there remains open for business.

Nobody is in custody at this point.
