Live from New York, it's Jeremy Renner!

The Modesto-born-and-raised two-time Oscar nominee is host of this weekend's episode of "Saturday Night Live," with musical guests Maroon 5. The show airs -- when else? -- tonight at 11:30 on NBC.

It's a return to the stage for Renner, who began acting while a student at Modesto Junior College.

It's also a return to comedy for the actor, who had one of his earliest screen roles in 1995's "National Lampoon's Senior Trip."

While he's best known for playing intense characters in his hits "The Hurt Locker," "The Town," "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol," "The Bourne Legacy" and "The Avengers," Renner has shown a quick wit as a guest on the late-night talk-show circuit.

Will you be watching "SNL," maybe keeping your fingers crossed that Renner -- who's also a musician -- jams with Maroon 5 or plays a friend of Bill Hader's Stefon character? Maybe you're doing something special, like having a viewing party.

We'd like to hear from you after the show. Comment here, or e-mail Bee local news editor Deke Farrow at, being sure to include your name and phone number. You may get a call Sunday morning for a story being written for The Bee and
