Quarterfinal winners: Folsom (12-0), Buhach Colony (10-2), Elk Grove (11-1), Del Oro (6-5).

Folsom and sophomore QB Jake Browning have become the postseason darlings. He has passed for 4,147 yards and a state-high 50 TDs – Downey’s Aaron Zwahlen is second with 46 – and they face running teams the net two weeks. That means those teams get little practice time against a good passing attack – playing right into Folsom’s success. ...

Buhach Colony at Antelope should be a pounding game, with BC throwing its three backs (Stefon Gold, Leon Miles and Jayce Webster always seem to be fresh with fly sweep) at the defense. Antelope had an early win over Rio Linda, which was 9-1 but then exposed a bit when it was shelled in its playoff opener, so not much else. BC gets nod for scheduling.

Del Oro at St. Mary’s is a No. 15 at a No. 7 (DO belted Yuba City 45-21 last week), and Del Oro has a habit of making postseason runs. Big test for Del Oro for another reason: It played a killer schedule, started 0-4 and got banged up, then it beat NorCal power Logan (now 10-1) and went 4-1 in a great league. Being 5-5 means a more difficult path through the playoffs, though, so they’ll see if it pays off. ...

Imagine Del Oro vs. Elk Grove in the semifinal: Who throws the first pass? Then the winner draws Folsom.
