Roundup: Central Catholic rolls, Hughson upended

— Central Catholic High's one-two punch of Ray Lomas and Rey Vega combined to run for 256 yards and seven TDs as the sixth-seeded Raiders beat Bear River 63-20 in a playoff opener.

The Raiders (9-2) visit No. 3 Ripon next Friday, after the Indians shut out Amador 40-0.

Lomas (13 carries, 135 yards, three TDs) got the rout going with a 30-yard run and Vega burst in from the 4. Lomas' second TD made it 21-0 and the first quarter wasn't even over.

The Bruins (8-3) scored twice in the second quarter, but the Raiders' 28-point third-quarter blew this one open.

Vega's 65-yard dash brought the crowd to its feet, then tight end John Mundt's 11-yard reception made it 49-20. Mundt, who doubles as a pass-rushing linebacker, had three sacks.

• ARGONAUT 42, HUGHSON 14, at Jackson — The second-seeded Mustangs (11-0) pounded the No. 15 Huskies (6-5).

Ryan King (12 carries, 150 yards, two TDs) and Colton Merriman (10, 145, three) had two TDs each in the first half. Caleb Patrick (125 yards) gave Argonaut three 100-yard rushers and a 42-7 lead in the third.

• LOS BANOS 41, SUMMERVILLE 18, at Los Banos — The No. 5 Tigers (10-1) pulled away in the second half to top the Bears (8-3) on the strength of three passing touchdowns and 217 passing yards from quarterback Chris Corpuz.

On defense, Delvonte Moore, Jesse Hernandez and Chris Lonetree intercepted Sumemrville quarterback Jesse Roberson, who despite completing 22 of 43 passes for 257 yards, only found the end zone once. LB's James Sams had 123 yards on 18 carries and a pair of scores, while Keith Turner had four catches for 100 yards.

• OAK RIDGE 49, ENOCHS 21, at El Dorado Hills — The Eagles (6-5) were within a TD at 27-21, before the No. 3 Trojans (9-1) pulled away.

Division 5

• LE GRAND 50, RIO VISTA 12, at Le Grand — The Bulldogs' (9-2) defense turned up the heat in the second half and the offense turned turnovers into 36 third-quarter points in the rout. QB Mauricio Contreras (6-of-14, 140 yards) threw three TDs, including an 18-yarder to Juan Gomez to open the second half and put Le Grand up 21-12.
