-- Spencer Thomas fired two TDs, and defensive back Dwayne Finney returned an interception 50 yards for a score as No. 1 seed Oakdale ripped Pacheco 63-7 to open the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 playoffs.

Fullback Josh Watts scored twice, including a 6-yard run to get the scoring going. Oakdale led 49-0 at halftime and will host No. 9 Benicia (8-3) in Friday's quarterfinal. Thomas had a 29-yard toss to Austin Jones and a 15-yarder to Marcus Northcutt to send Pacheco (5-6) reeling in its first playoff game.

• SIERRA 28, ROSEMONT 8, at Manteca — Midway through the second period, the No. 3 T'wolves (10-1) pinned Rosemont inside its 5, forcing a punt that Jordan Lewis returned 40 yards for a TD to spark his team to victory.

Lewis' touchdown appeared to stun Rosemont, and two plays later Guillermo Nunez made his first of two interceptions, setting up Anthony Cota's (23 carries, 134 yards) 10-yard TD run with 2:50 left in the first half to give Sierra a 14-7 lead.

Nunez also scored two third-quarter touchdowns — one on a 5-yard run and the other on a 14-yard pass from Jake Pruitt. Nunez finished with 91 yards on six receptions and Pruitt was 12-of-18 for 134 yards with a touchdown.

• BENICIA 27, PATTERSON 24, at Patterson — James Hyde, who had an 83-yard TD catch to open the scoring, returned a kickoff 88 yards for a TD with 10:34 to play and it stayed that was as the No. 9 Panthers (7-3) beat the No. 8 Tigers (7-4). Benicia jumped to a 21-0 lead with three big plays in the first quarter, but the Tigers' rally began on Dominic Dawkins' 95-yard kickoff return for a score.

Drake Vatuvei punched in two short runs in the second quarter, then Bryan DeAnda's 33-yard field goal gave Patterson its first lead. That lead lasted about 15 seconds. Patterson reached the Benicia 40 in the final minute, but lost the ball on downs. Dawkins, whose 76-yard punt return set up Vatuvei's tying TD, had 225 return yards. Benicia QB Ryan Bohnet threw for 251 yards and two TDs.

Division 6

• RIPON CHR. 42, ELLIOT CHR. 22, at Salida — Danny Vos filled plenty of important roles for the No. 4 Knights (9-2), passing for 195 yards and three TDs, running for 53 yards and returning an interception 83 yards for a TD. Brandon Dotinga and David Henderson also intercepted passes for RC.

Vos' first-quarter TD throws put RC up 14-0, but Ben Huckaby (19 carries, 120 yards, two TDs) scored to cut that lead in half. RC's Andrew Brown (81 yards rushing, 72 receiving) scored on a 1-yard run before the half, and Vos hit Spencer Hower with a 40-yard toss to open the second half for a 28-7 lead.

• BIG VALLEY 19, WOODLAND CHR. 12, at Woodland — David Barton (20 carries, 124 yards) returned an interception 54 yards for a TD to extend the Lions' lead to 19-6 in the third quarter and send them into next week's semifinal at Brookside Christian. Barton also recovered a fumble, while Noah Meidema put Big Valley ahead with two first-half TDs.
