On Oct. 8, the Turlock Garden Club wrote a letter to the Turlock Downtown Property Owners Association informing them the club could no longer continue to plant and care for the downtown flower pots.

The Turlock Garden Club wishes to inform the citizens and the business community that there have been some unresolved watering issues that had made it impossible to plant in pots because of some pots having four inches of standing water while other pots do not get enough water for plants to survive.

During the past 10 years or so, the Turlock Garden Club has enjoyed the spring and fall planting, dead-heading and fertilizing the plants. It has been a very hard decision to stop the care of the pots. There are 24 volunteers that have been taking care of the pots, and we are all very sad about the situation. However, we will be looking forward to another community project.

We want to thank all the local businesses and citizens for their support and kind words every month as we worked on the downtown pots.
