• COPING WITH THE HOLIDAYS WORKSHOP

Where: Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way

Info: Community Hospice is offering a free workshop to help those in the community cope with their grief during the holidays. The holidays are often the most difficult time of the year for those who have lost a loved one. Participants will receive information to help them understand what they are experiencing and learn coping skills. The program will close with a healing candle-lighting ceremony. Participants are encouraged to bring framed pictures of their loved ones. This workshop is designed for adults, 18 and older. Seating is limited. • REPUBLICAN WOMEN LUNCH MEETING

When: Tuesday, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Where: Appetéz restaurant, 825 W. Roseburg Ave.

Info: Modesto Republican Women will hold their monthly lunch meeting, with Stanislaus County Sheriff Adam Christianson as guest speaker. The meeting is open to the public, and both men and women are encouraged to attend. Lunch is $15. Info: The Calaveras Arts Council is offering "Meeting of the Ages — Free Historical Writing Panels and Workshops." The event is free and consists of a series of writers workshops, panel discussions, music, vendors, book tables with author signings, and wine tasting for a $10 donation.
