Focus on Education: Denair to meet

The Denair Unified School District board will hold its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. today in the district board room, 3460 Lester Road, Denair. Board members will recognize business partners in education and students who earned the Seal of Multilingual Proficiency. Before the meeting, trustees will meet in closed session to discuss negotiations with its unions. The district received a sobering assessment of its finances at a special meeting last week. In open meeting, the board is expected to approve a 90 percent grant to buy zero-emission lawn mowers and an $11,000 bid to remove asbestos from a room at Denair High. LEGOS LAND AT SAVAGE: Family-friendly robots will invade north Modesto on Saturday. The First Lego League Qualifier Tournament will run from 9:30 a.m. to midafternoon at Savage Middle School, 1900 Maid Marianne Lane. Twelve Northern California teams will compete for a spot in the Capital Regional Championship Tournament in February.

HART-RANSOM TO MEET: The Hart-Ransom Union School District board will meet tonight at 6 in the district board room, 3930 Shoemake Ave. Members will consider development fees and an extension of up to $5,000 for the hourly contract for William Ardis, interim charter school director, for November. KNIGHTS FERRY TO MEET: The Knights Ferry School District board will meet at 6 tonight in the Knights Ferry Elementary cafeteria, 12726 Dent St., Knights Ferry. No agenda was available.

WATERFORD TO MEET: The Waterford Unified School District board will meet at 7 tonight in the district board room, 319 N. Reinway Ave., Waterford. Trustees will discuss updating policies on head lice as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
