Stanislaus center would be one of many Obamacare benefits

At a time when Stanislaus faces a 14.5 percent unemployment rate, I commend our Board of Supervisors for putting politics aside ("Stanislaus County must move quickly to snare Affordable Care Act jobs," Our View, Nov. 1) in order to explore whether the county should apply to become a regional call center for health care benefits.

This is one of many potential economic benefits of the Affordable Care Act for California, which is why I am so disappointed that Rep. Jeff Denham wants to repeal health reform and turn away resources for our health system and economy.

My 14-year-old son has autism. Since my son has a pre-existing condition, it would be a struggle to get insurance for him, but because of the Affordable Care Act I will be able to get health coverage for my son without discrimination.

My family and many other families in Modesto are benefiting from health reform. Denham should follow the Board of Supervisors' lead and put politics aside in favor of what is best for his constituents.
