'Person of interest' arrested in Empire homicide

— Stanislaus County sheriff's detectives arrested on an unrelated matter a person of interest in Sunday's homicide in Empire.

Manuel Francisco Chavez was stabbed to death inside his South Abbie Street home after an argument with a man. Tuesday, Sean Michael Bachman, 28, of Manteca was arrested for a parole violation.

Detectives classified him as a person of interest in Chavez's death. Witnesses who were present during the argument Sunday just before Chavez was stabbed, or anyone with information about the case, are asked to call Detective Jon McQueary at (209) 525-7099.

People can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Tipsters can also e-mail tips at www.modestopolice.com/ crimestoppers, or text them to CRIMES (274637) by typing "Tip704" plus the message and be eligible for a cash reward.
