The Turlock Unified School District board will meet tonight at 6:30 at the Medeiros Elementary School cafeteria, 651 W. Springer Dr. Students earning the Stanislaus County Seal of Multilingual Proficiency will take a bow. Trustees will discuss the budget and consider significant raises to rates charged for use of its facilities. For example, renting the Turlock High stadium with lights and all restrooms would go from $11 an hour to more than $100. Charge to use an elementary school multipurpose room would rise from $1 to $27 an hour. ESCALON TO MEET: The Escalon Unified School District board will meet tonight at 7 at Collegeville Elementary, East Mariposa and Jack Tone roads. Trustees will hear a report on the Collegeville After School junior mentor program.

RIVERBANK TO MEET: The Riverbank Unified School District board will meet at 5:30 p.m. today at the district boardroom, 6715 Seventh St., Riverbank. Trustees will hear reports on the opening of negotiations with the Riverbank Teachers Association.

YOUNG SPELLERS COMPETE: Top spellers in fourth through sixth grades will compete in the Stanislaus County Elementary Spelling Championship at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Johansen High School, 641 Norseman Drive. The Junior High Spelling Championship, for those in grades seven and eight, is scheduled for 5 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Petersen Event Center, 720 12th Street. Sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office of Education, both events are free and open to the public.
