The Oakland Athletics re-signed veteran pitcher Bartolo Colon to a one-year contract on Saturday.

Colon went 10-9 with a 3.43 earned run average in 24 starts for the A's during a 2012 season cut short in late August by a 50-game suspension for testing positive for an elevated testosterone level. The 39-year-old was leading Oakland in wins and ERA at the time of his ban.

The right-hander's 10 victories were his most since 2005, the year Colon captured the American League Cy Young Award with a 21-win campaign for the Angels, while his ERA was the second-lowest mark of his 15-year career.

Colon, who still has five games remaining on his suspension, signed a one-year deal with Oakland in January following a solid comeback season with the New York Yankees in which he posted an 8-10 record and a 4.00 ERA in 29 games (26 starts). The Dominican native did not pitch at all in the majors in 2010 due to shoulder problems.

A two-time All-Star, Colon has compiled a 171-122 record and a 4.05 ERA in stints with Cleveland, Montreal, the Chicago White Sox, the Angels, Boston, the Yankees and Oakland.
