Rollover accident on Scenic in Modesto

local@modbee.comNovember 1, 2012

— Rain-slicked conditions and high speed contributed to a rollover accident on Scenic Drive near Bodem Street this morning.

One woman was taken to an area hospital with injuries.

According to Battalion Chief Cecil Ridge of the Modesto Regional Fire Authority, the driver of a van was going too fast around the curve at Bodem when the van flipped and started smoking. The van also hit a black Honda; that driver was not hurt.

Ridge said it's not uncommon for this kind of accident, particularly with the first rainfall of the year.

The accident happened about 8:45 a.m. Passersby tried to help extricate the trapped woman before firefighters arrived.
