Alex Labanon, Gregori: The junior ran for a school-record 960 yards in 10 games, it's the second varsity season for the Jaguars, and Modesto's newest high school went 3-3 in the MMC.
He had 154 yards and two TDs in Friday's 54-30 win vs. Johansen, behind his line of Austin Evans, Tanner Ingle, David Silva, Prerak Gandhi, Matt Ramirez and Chris Anderson.
"Alex has ... gotten stronger and faster from last year," coach Jason McCoy said. "He works hard in the weight room and running track has helped him with his speed."
Alex Serrano, Gustine: He's been the focal point of the offense with 778 yards rushing, including 131 last week, and has two TDs.
"I talked to Alex about the difference in his running this year. The difference is a (line) that can execute our zone schemes," coach Russell McWilliams said. "The line is trusting scheme in letting Alex find his cutback. Most of his runs are after contact. He sees the hole and gets through it."
Serrano runs behind Hector Haro (LT, so.), Andrew Salazar (LG, sr.), Alec Whitsitt (C, sr.), Iancarlo Morales (RG. jr.), Josh Laupua (RT, jr.)
