MANTECA -- An arsonist is suspected of torching four vans belonging to a Manteca high school.
The vans exploded early Thursday morning, the Record newspaper in Stockton reported Friday. The Manteca Police Department says it appears rags were stuffed into the gas tanks and then ignited. Police said it appears the arsonist cut a hole in a nearby fence to enter the parking lot. No arrests have been made.
East Union High School in Manteca used the vans to shuttle athletes to sporting events. Damage was estimated at $100,000.
