Turlock man sought in shooting

Investigators are looking for a Turlock man in connection with a shooting in Delhi.

The incident was reported at 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the 9000 block of Countryside Avenue, according to Merced County sheriff's deputy Ed Katen. Deputies responded to the scene and found a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was flown to a Modesto hospital with wounds that were not believed to be life-threatening.

Deputies were searching for suspect Juan Martin Zapata, 21, in the shooting. Katen said he's described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, with brown or black hair.

Merced County sheriff's deputies are asking anyone with information about Zapata's whereabouts to call the department's Major Crimes Division at (209) 385-7472.
