MODESTO -- The two teenagers hit by a car near Modesto High School earlier this week are recovering at home, the mother of one of them said.
A 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old male were walking to school a few minutes before 7 a.m. Monday when a Toyota Camry hit them as they crossed Tuolumne Boulevard at Yosemite Avenue. Police said it appeared the driver was at fault; the teenagers were walking in a crosswalk.
The girl suffered a head injury; the 18-year-old suffered a back injury as well as several cuts, his mother said. They are recuperating from their injuries at their respective homes.
