'Macbeth'

Patterson Repertory Theatre presents Shakespeare's bloody tragedy "Macbeth." The play is about greed, power and lust and is filled with witches, incantations and mysticism. Director Joshua Morriston's production will feature elaborate makeup effects and costumes.

'Cinderella'

Sierra Repertory Theatre is bringing back the glass slipper, pumpkin coach and fairy godmother. The company is presenting its perennial favorite "Cinderella" in time for the holidays. This version is Rodgers and Hammerstein's comic musical, which premièred in 1957 as a CBS television special starring Julie Andrews. Songs include "Impossible; It's Possible," "In My Own Little Corner" and "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?"

Carnival and haunts

The Associated Students of Modesto Junior College are sponsoring their eighth annual Halloween Carnival and Haunted House. The family-friendly event features music, games, pumpkin decorating, food, trick-or-treating, juggling, face painting and a family-appropriate costume contest.

Haunted House

The Boys and Girls Club of Stanislaus County is sponsoring a family-friendly haunted house. Think Scooby Doo, not "Friday the 13th." There will be a haunted maze with witches, vampires and ghosts, plus a pumpkin- and cookie-decorating area.

WHEN: 5-10 p.m. daily, tonight through Wednesday. Last visitors let in at 9:30 p.m.

Arch Celebration

The Modesto Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the 100th anniversary and restoration of the city's iconic arch, which bears the slogan "Water Wealth Contentment Health." Attend the lighting ceremony and watch a parade of 100 cars — one from each year since the arch was built in 1912.

'Sleeping Beauty'

California Theatre Centre presents "The Sleeping Beauty" in a production recommended for grades K-5. The timeless fairy tale, set in the Renaissance, pits evil against the power of knowledge and courage. When the most unpleasant fairy in the kingdom is mistakenly excluded from the christening of a newborn princess, she casts a spell that makes the kingdom sleep for 100 years.
