-- A 19-year-old man was shot Tuesday night by a man he met to sell marijuana to. The victim met two men near a car wash behind the Jack in the Box at Coffee Road and Floyd Avenue about 7 p.m.

The two men took the marijuana from the victim but didn't pay him, said Modesto police Lt. Jolene Gonzales. As the robbers walked away, the victim yelled something and one of the men responded by turning around and shooting him. Gonzales didn't know how much marijuana the men stole or what the victim yelled at them.

The victim drove himself a few blocks to Memorial Medical Center, where officers were called to investigate. His injuries are not life-threatening.

He was less than cooperative with police, Gonzales said. Police collected evidence at the scene of the shooting and talked to witnesses, who described two robbers.

One was a black man with dreadlocks who was wearing a black sweat shirt. He last was seen running southeast toward Vera Cruz Drive.
