-- The clouds that dropped rain on Modesto Monday turned their attention to the Modesto Reservoir early today.

Modesto Irrigation District’s weather station is reporting that the reservoir got 5 hundredths of an inch of rain between 3 and 5 a.m.

Today is expected to be overcast, with a chance of rain through Wednesday. Highs are expected to get only into the 50s in Modesto today, making a distant memory the near 90s of just last week.

Thunderstorms are expected to bring rain to the foothills, with snow at higher elevations.

Snow and a construction project are wreaking havoc on Interstate 80 near Nevada. According to the state Department of Transportation, I-80 westbound is closed near the state line due to spinouts and traffic is being held at Truckee.
