Modesto bank will reopen

MODESTO -- Modesto police said Chase Bank at Tully Road and Standiford Avenue will reopen this morning after being closed and cleaned over the weekend.

Six employees were treated and released at hospitals Friday for hives, shortness of breath, fever, blisters and other symptoms after a customer brought in a bundle of bills wrapped in a paper towel for deposit.

Officer Scott Nelson said investigators are waiting for lab results to determine what was in the residue on the towel.

He said police have talked with the customer who brought in the money for deposit about 4 p.m. "He's cooperating with us," Nelson said.
