VETERANS ADVISORY COMMISSION

Info: The Stanislaus County Veterans Advisory Commission will discuss a new meeting location and time and will report on the status of each of the four Strategic Priority Committees:

• Determine facility purpose/needs

• Identify and partner with existing education and job placement programs

• Develop and implement an outreach strategy

• Improve access to transportation for all veterans

The purpose of the commission is to represent all veterans in Stanislaus County by advising the Board of Supervisors and staff on matters pertaining to all veterans. The public is encouraged to attend and volunteer for a Strategic Priority Committee. For more, call Joe at (209) 914-4764.

• MYSTERY SHOPPER CLASS

When: Tuesday, 6 to 9 p.m.

Where: Modesto Junior College, Founders Hall, Room 157, 435 College Ave.

Info: Becoming a mystery shopper is a way to earn extra money and have fun at the same time. Shoppers receive assignments from companies that do business evaluations. An assignment might be to evaluate a restaurant, retail store, bank, gas station, theater, etc. At the conclusion of the evaluation visit, the mystery shopper completes and submits a report. This class will present an overview of how mystery shopping works, what types of assessment forms are used, the do's and don'ts of completing an assignment, how to get into the shoppers network and how to avoid scams. • MENDED HEARTS SUPPORT GROUP

Where: Sutter Gould Medical Foundation Training and Education Center, 1700 McHenry Ave.

Info: Mended Hearts is a national nonprofit volunteer organization offering support and the gift of hope to heart patients, caregivers and their families. The support groups help people understand that there can be a rewarding life after a heart procedure. Members are there to listen, share their experiences and discuss matters relating to lifestyle changes, depression, recovery and treatment.
