Jogger runs into car's path, is badly hurt in Modesto

October 16, 2012

— A jogger suffered major injuries when he ran in front of a car on a major east Modesto thoroughfare Tuesday morning.

Anthony Stanley, 22, was running west across El Vista Avenue at Glendale Avenue shortly after 10 a.m., according to Modesto police Lt. Rick Armendariz. When Stanley entered the left southbound lane of El Vista, he was struck by a car driven by 54-year-old Teresa Albor.

Stanley was wearing headphones and was not in a crosswalk, Armendariz said. Vehicle speed, drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been factors.

Stanley suffered major injuries including a fractured skull and broken wrist. He is in stable condition, Armendariz said.
