Ceres

The 'Dogs have had some lean years, but Johnson has provided plenty of highlights with his pass-catching abilities. He caught a season-high 13 passes for 159 yards in last week's loss, but it was his second double-digit reception effort this season. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound senior has 56 catches for 700 yards, averaging 12.5 yards a catch with four touchdowns.

Downey

He might be the MMC's Defensive MVP, the way he can mess up offenses. "We put him in situations to make plays on defense. He is very disruptive," coach Jeremy Plaa said. "He is a key feature on most of our special teams." Kreifels plays a linebacker-safety role at times, playing the run or pass coverage at times, and other times pressuring the QB. More importantly, he has brought a brand of physical play that Downey was lacking.

WHAT'S THE BLUE LINE?: Prep reporter Richard T. Estrada will identify members of The Blue Line, judging candidates on their body of work. The process is ongoing and new members will debut each Wednesdays as part of our weekly prep football package.

ONLINE: Players are hyperlinked on www.modbee.com — hence, "The Blue Line" name — and all content (stories, pictures, video) with their names will be collected in a special area on the site.
