Stanislaus foundation gets new chief executive

Marian Kaanon has been named chief executive officer of the Stanislaus Community Foundation. Kaanon, a longtime Modesto resident with extensive experience in nonprofit administration, marketing and public advocacy, will assume the CEO role Nov. 12.

She will replace Patty Stone, who announced her retirement from the foundation earlier in the year. Stone has guided the foundation from its initial days — when it was known as the Greater Modesto Community Foundation — to its current size, managing close to $12 million in assets.

Kaanon most recently has served as vice president of sales and marketing for the Modesto-based nonprofit Community Hospice. Stanislaus Community Foundation serves and supports charitable donors and nonprofit organizations. It encourages philanthropy, providing personalized services to donors and assisting those who work to meet community needs.
