Valley weather looks to be clear, warm

Well, the heat is returning, but apparently not as much as forecasters thought.

The National Weather Service predicts highs around Modesto getting into the upper 80s by Thursday, but forecasters have backed off the preditions of 90 degrees they made last week.

Today, we’re expected to hit 84, rising to 86 later in the week and then dropping back into the 70s by the weekend. Conditions throughout the week are expected to be clear, with some winds through Wednesday.

In the foothills, there’s a slight chance of rain early this week in the northern areas, with highs a few degrees cooler than in the valley.
