Man killed in wreck near Ceres

CERES -- A 43-year-old man from Modesto died Sunday after his truck hit a power pole west of Ceres.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Ford F150 west on Service about 7:15 p.m. when the truck veered across the road, going onto the shoulder on Service’s south side.

The driver lost control of the truck, which veered back onto the road before going off the shoulder and into the pole, where it overturned, the CHP said.

The man, whose name was not released pending notification of his family, died at the scene. He was the only person in the truck.

CHP investigators said they do not believe drugs or alcohol was a factor in the accident.
