MODESTO -- The Modesto Police Department has been awarded a $100,000 state grant for a yearlong program aimed at preventing deaths and injuries on the road.
The grant will help Modesto's work to improve traffic safety through efforts such as saturation patrols to catch motorists driving under the influence, seat belt and child safety seat enforcement, cracking down on drivers who speed and run red lights and stop signs, and stakeout operations targeting the worst repeat DUI offenders.
Funding for this program is from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
