-- The community is invited to Sunday's family day and health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at River Park, 225 N. Appling Road.

The family fun includes educational booths, games and a picnic lunch. The health fair includes blood-pressure- and diabetes-check stations, nutrition education and information from health providers.

The event is being put together by the city's Parks and Recreation Department, River Park's Citizens Group, the Waterford Improvement Team, the Tuolumne River Trust, the California Department of Fish and Game, Stanislaus Consolidation Fire, the Sheriff's Department, the Waterford Unified School District's after-school program and the Coast Guard.

The Waterford Lions Club is providing the picnic lunch.

"The River Park Family Day is an opportunity for families to come down to the park and enjoy an afternoon of free and fun activities, and to forget about the hustle and bustle of their busy lives," said April Jolimay of the Waterford Improvement Team.

For more information about the event, call Red Bartley at (209) 874-9761.
