-- Ceres police arrested a man and a woman after they reportedly stole marijuana from a man and fired a shot in his direction.

The suspects met the victim at about 8:20 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart at Hatch and Mitchell roads to discuss the sale of a computer, according to Sgt. Patrick Crane.

The victim told police he wanted to purchase the computer and possibly supplement a portion of the cost with his marijuana.

Instead, the male suspect, identified as 37-year-old Norrval Williams, allegedly pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his pot and wallet, Crane said.

Norrval Williams then got into the passenger side of a white Chevrolet Camaro driven by Neikko Williams, 42. Crane did not know if the two suspects are related.

As the suspects drove away, Crane said, Norrval Williams turned around and fired at the victim, who was pursuing their vehicle in his car.

One bullet hit the victim's car, but he was not injured.

Shortly after the shooting, an officer spotted the suspects' vehicle about a mile away at Moffet Road and Canyon Drive. The driver, Neikko Williams, yielded to the officer's lights and sirens, but Norrval Williams ran from the car, Crane said.

Officers searched the area and found Norrval Williams hiding two blocks away, in the front yard of a home in the 1000 block of Shadow Ridge Drive. He was arrested without further incident.

Inside the suspects' car, officers found two loaded handguns and two to three pounds of marijuana allegedly stolen from the victim, Crane said.

Neikko Williams and Norrval Williams, both of Modesto, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, robbery and weapons charges.

Crane said the victim has a doctor's medical marijuana recommendation and has not been charged with a crime.
