Rough week for MJC volleyball

Being swept on back-to-back nights was a downer for the Modesto Junior College volleyball team.

But head coach Tevani Liotard tried to look at the positive after Thursday's 25-8, 25-20, 25-18 loss to Santa Rosa.

"Everyone got to play and put together a good game but we did not have enough kills throughout the match," she said. "The defense was doing its job. We need to improve on our passing on service-recieve and hitting."

Modesto (4-15, 0-6 Big 8) lost to Diablo Valley on Wednesday night, 25-11, 25-15, 26-24. Morgan Jensen and Jamie Beck each totaled 13 kills in the two matches.

Modesty Rodriguez led in assists (20) and digs (11) for the week. Modesto's next home game is Oct. 17 against Sacramento City.
