SPEECH JUDGES NEEDED:
Gregori High is hosting a speech tournament on Saturday. Volunteers are needed to help judge from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Judges should report to the library for instructions. Judges must be high school graduates or older, but prior speech or debate experience is not necessary. About 300 students are expected to attend from more than a dozen area high schools. Community members are invited to the grand opening at 10 a.m. Thursday of the Stanislaus Culinary Arts Institute, 1040 Wakefield Drive, Oakdale. Operated by the Stanislaus County Office of Education, the institute opened this year to alternative education students, as well as to Oakdale and Waterford High School students in Regional Occupational Programs. In addition, Columbia College is holding evening culinary classes at the campus beginning this fall.DAVIS C2G DAY: Davis High School will host a C2G (Commitment to Graduate) College, Career and Military Fair on Nov. 20.
