SANTA NELLA -- The Stanislaus County coroner's office Wednesday identified a woman who died after being airlifted from a Santa Nella crash scene to a Modesto hospital as Alicia Carranca, 35, of San Jose.
A second woman died at the scene; the Merced County coroner's office had not identified her Wednesday. The women were riding in a truck that collided with a sport utility vehicle going the wrong way on Highway 152 early Tuesday.
The driver of the Ford Explorer that hit them, Ali Farsad, 68, of San Jose, was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence.
