STANISLAUS COUNTY -- Stanislaus County sheriff's detectives searched Del Puerto Canyon on Tuesday for clues about the death of a man found at the bottom of a ravine over the weekend.
The man's body was found Saturday evening, but the coroner has not determined how long he'd been dead, and detectives are not saying how he died.
Detectives searched more than a mile of canyon floor, said Sgt. Anthony Bejaran. The only thing they found was one of the man's teeth near where his body was.
Deputies also searched about three miles of Del Puerto Canyon Road. No evidence related to the case was found there, but deputies located two trash bags of marijuana trimmings that had been dumped alongside the road. They were collected for destruction, Bejaran said.
The body was found a few miles from where two men were found bound and shot to death on Del Puerto Canyon Road in early August. Bejaran identified those victims as Esteban Martinez Menera, 39, of San Jose and Pedro Garcia-Valencia, 53, of Redwood City.
The name of the man found Saturday has not been released.
