MODESTO -- A Modesto police officer stopped at a downtown intersection not only witnessed a collision but became involved when one of the vehicles was pushed into his patrol car Monday.
The officer was at a red light facing south on Ninth Street preparing to turn west onto I Street when two pickups collided in the intersection about 4:30 p.m., according to Lt. Rick Armendariz.
A woman driving a silver Nissan pickup heading east on I tried to turn north onto Ninth Street and drove into the path of a GMC Sierra traveling west on I. The impact from the GMC pushed the Nissan toward the patrol car.
