A quick search on Modbee.com for North County Corridor (NCC) will show many articles that demonstrate the poor planning, poor information and controversy that surrounds the project.
Stanislaus County and the city of Oakdale should rescind the votes and decisions for the proposed NCC routes through Oakdale.
1. All constituents must have equal voice in the process regardless of where their property lies, the amount of property taxes they may or may not pay, what plans someone would like to have for his or her land. One person, one vote.
2. At a minimum, there was insufficient public disclosure. Some parcel owners were not notified of the corridor plan until very late in the process. Some apparently were not notified until last month.
3. Oakdale, and possibly the county, must cure and correct apparent violations of the Brown Act, California's open meetings law. The city, in effect, made land use decisions outside the normal public process.
If there is to be a North County Corridor, the project needs to be done out in the open with full public hearings, and not behind closed doors.
