-- An autopsy was done Monday on a man who was found dead at the bottom of a Del Puerto Canyon ravine over the weekend, but Stanislaus County sheriff's detectives would not say how he died.

Sgt. Anthony Bejaran said detectives have identified the man but will not release his name, age or city of residence until his family is notified.

His cause of death also is being withheld. A Del Puerto Canyon resident reported finding a body in a ravine near mile marker 12 on Saturday about 6:20 p.m.

A responding deputy climbed down about 300 feet to get to the body. Bejaran would not say if detectives know how long the man had been there or if he died there.

About a month ago, two men were found bound and shot to death alongside Del Puerto Canyon Road near mile marker 10. Bejaran would not say if the man found Saturday was bound or if detectives are investigating any connection between the deaths.
