YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK -- Yosemite National Park officials on Tuesday will take down the Half Dome cables for fall and winter. The cables are taken down each October.
The cables will be back in place in the spring as conditions permit. Park officials strongly advise visitors not to attempt to reach Half Dome's summit without the cables in place, since the dome can be extremely slippery with rain or ice during seemingly dry conditions.
