Case against Patterson mom accused of murder continues

PATTERSON -- A 25-year-old mother accused of murder in the drowning of her 3-year-old daughter in Patterson two years ago is set to return to court Nov. 7.

A mental competency hearing Wednesday was continued to allow time for more information about Jennifer Bigham's current mental condition, Stanislaus County District Attorney Birgit Fladager said.

Bigham has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in the death of her daughter, Alexandrea Bigham, who was found underwater in a bathtub. Authorities tried to resuscitate her, but the girl died at a Modesto hospital about four hours later.
