The California Department of Education notes that this month is designated California School Bus Safety Awareness Month, Character Education Month, Crime Prevention Month, Disability Awareness Month, Filipino American History Month, National Bullying Prevention Month, National Disability Employment Awareness Month and National Energy Awareness Month

ARTS EVERY DAY: An arts integration professional development seminar will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 10, 11 and 12 at the Mistlin Gallery, 1015 J St. The Stanislaus County Office of Education, Region 6, is offering the training. Cost is $75 for the three days, with up to three units of credit available through California State University, Fresno. MCS 4 KIDS: Modesto City Schools has created a new Web address, www.mcs4kids.com, with school Web addresses simplified. For example, Davis High's Web page is at www.mcs4kids.com/schools/davis. But the old address, http://mcs.monet.k12.ca.us, will still work, said John Scott, district director of technology.
