Modesto man, 60, dies after crashing into power pole

MODESTO -- A 60-year-old man died early Tuesday after he lost control of his vehicle south of Modesto and crashed into a power pole.

Darrel Linder of Modesto was driving west on Keyes Road, west of Crows Landing Road, about 3:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

For unknown reasons, he lost control of his vehicle, veered across the eastbound lane and drove off the shoulder into a power pole.

Linder was taken to Doctors Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
