Richard M. Moon Primary School in Waterford is implementing a Latino Family Literacy Project funded through a $2,000 Target's Early Childhood Reading Grant and Waterford Unified School District after-school programs.

The project builds English-language skills for parents and students by establishing a regular family reading routine.

The 10-session class provides Spanish-speaking families with bilingual books and instruction on helping their children learn to read.

Three Moon teachers lead this program, from kindergarten, first and second grades.
