Modestan arrested in Hayward gunfight

A Modesto man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after a shooting between two groups of people in a Hayward neighborhood, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

No one was injured in the melee, police said, and the shooting does not appear to be gang-related.

Investigators determined two groups got into a gun battle and that 20 rounds were fired between two shooters during the incident, the newspaper reports.

The 28-year-old Modesto man seen leaving the scene was arrested on suspicion of shooting into an unoccupied vehicle after he was identified as one of the shooters, police said.

They have not released his name and are still searching for the second shooter.
